East Village is a neighborhood on the East Side of Lower Manhattan in NYC. The recent census data shows that there are 70,364 persons in this area among 1.8 million people in Manhattan. The overall neighbor is well diversified with Asians at 15%, Hispanics at 12.5%, Black 4%, and White 65%, with average household income of $74,265, a slight above median household income ($65,8500).

It has been gradually growing into one of the wealthiest residential neighborhoods in the city, however East Village is also known as one of the most homeless populated areas in the city. Since the pandemic began, the homeless population has increased substantially and public housing projects still remain largely at work.
